GeoLocale was built to respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what happens with data when you use the app. The short version: GeoLocale has no accounts, collects no personal information about you, and does not track you.

Information we collect

None that identifies you. GeoLocale has no sign-up or login, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking tools. As the developer, we do not collect, receive, or store any personal information about you or your device.

Information stored on your device

The choices you make during setup, such as your household type, budget range, and the priorities you care about, along with cached map information, are saved locally on your device so the app can remember them and load faster. This information stays on your device. It is never sent to us and is not linked to your identity. Deleting the app removes it.

Location

GeoLocale does not access your device's GPS or precise location. The map opens on the cities and neighborhoods you choose to explore, not on where you physically are. The app does not request location permission.

Maps and place data

To show maps and the real places used in neighborhood scores, GeoLocale requests maps from Mapbox and points-of-interest data from OpenStreetMap's Overpass service. As with any request over the internet, these independent services receive your device's IP address and the map area (coordinates) you are viewing; Mapbox also uses this to provide the travel-time and reachable-area features. We do not send them any personal information about you. These services are operated by third parties under their own privacy practices — see Mapbox at mapbox.com/legal/privacy and OpenStreetMap at openstreetmap.org.

In-app help assistant

If you use the in-app help assistant, the messages you type are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a reply. Please don't include sensitive personal information in those messages. We don't link these messages to your identity, and Anthropic processes them under its own terms.

Links to other sites

GeoLocale may include links to property portals and map services. If you choose to open one, you leave GeoLocale, and that website's own privacy policy applies to what happens there.

No ads and no data sales

We do not show advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone. There is nothing to sell, because we do not collect it in the first place.

Children

GeoLocale is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above.
