Limassol runs along the coast, and most of the difference between its neighborhoods comes down to how close they sit to the water and which end of the city they occupy. The western side is shaped by the ports and industry, the centre is dense and built up close to the seafront, and the east turns into hotel and beach territory before rising inland into village cores. Several outlying areas are separate municipalities with their own residential character, set back from the shore entirely.
